Wednesday the 26th
You’re in-house counsel for a mid-sized company and have spent the last month negotiating a 100-page sales contract. You’ve gone through all the normal back and forth with your counterparty, redlining version after version, getting all the necessary c-suite approvals along the way. Soon, all the terms are hammered out and you email the final contract to your counterparty for signature. There are six days until the end of the quarter.
Friday the 28th
After taking two days for final review, your counterparty signs, returning the contract as a scanned PDF. Your sales team and c-suite are thrilled and anxiously wait for word that you made your mark and that the deal is closed.
But, as a lawyer, you know that your company will be responsible for every term in this contract. How do you know if your counterparty made any unannounced changes before signing or inadvertently executed an outdated version?
Saturday the 29th
So, you do the only thing you can do. You cancel your weekend plans, put the contract you sent and the contract you received side-by-side, and start reading. Your email pings as update requests come in every few hours.
Monday the 31st
After a lot of hours and a lot of coffee, you finally make your way through both contracts. Everything looks fine. You sign, send, and share the good news. Phew, you did it!
Despite the excitement, you can’t help but think about your lost weekend and say to yourself “there has got be a better way to do this.”
I’m happy to report that there is now. This week, Exari launched Compare the market’s most powerful, accurate, and intuitive document comparison tool, capable of handling that same 100-page contract in minutes, not hours or days.
Compare’s browser-based UI is dead simple to use. Just drag and drop your contracts into the system and, within seconds, Exari’s remarkably accurate OCR engine will turn them into machine-encoded text, no matter whether you're working with DOCs, PDFs, RTFs, or TIFs.
After being OCR’d, your contracts are quickly – and precisely – matched against each other, with any and all discrepancies identified in red, clear as day. You can then download a full results report for your records. And that’s it, you’re done!

You go to the aquarium with you family and learn that the blue whale is the largest known mammal to have ever lived. Pretty cool.
