General Summary

Exari has become the new leader in enterprise contract management using a unique approach for transforming contracts from documents into data. Over the years we have developed market-leading functionality to give companies unprecedented control and insight into the agreements which underpin their customer, supplier, employee, and partner relationships.

The Product Owner will play a key role in Exari’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) project, which automatically extracts rich data from contract documents. This is a leadership role within both the Legal Analysis and Rules Development teams, reporting to the AI Product Manager.

The Legal Analysis team carries out legal analysis, administrative and data entry tasks relating to contract documents, as part of the ongoing development of a document corpus for machine learning. By accurately identifying and labelling contract features, the paralegals in the team “teach” the AI how to read contracts. This work is an important input for the engineers in the Applied Research team in R&D. The Product Owner will carry out more complex legal analysis within the team and supervise the paralegals – tasks may include scheduling, quality control, and training.

The Rules Development team develops applications through a Javascript-based API that invoke complex rule engine functions and manipulate and transform the data returned. These rules are used for document analysis and data mining, forming a key component of the AI project. As the team operates using Agile (Scrum/Kanban) development methodology, the Product Owner will be responsible for managing the team’s work through its product backlog, which is split between core and custom development tasks. This will require interfacing with and managing requests from Services and Sales functional areas.
