An additional Software Test Engineer is required to primarily work on sophisticated document and contract management products in Newbury. Working within cross functional teams, it regularly involves resolution of leading edge technical problems and undertaking a mix of tasks across the full product lifecycle.

The Software Test Engineer will work closely with the scrum team in building and executing comprehensive suites of automation test cases. The job involves maintaining and adding to the existing automation framework, continued evaluation of test cases for inclusion in regression, automation for newly integrated features, and development of toolsets to improve QA and Development testing.

Applicants are expected to possess a professional background of, at least, 2-5 years of experience in software testing and software test development. This role is mainly for a Web application tester. To be successful you must have worked a lot with automation.

Essential Job Functions

  • Build out automated functional tests for areas of the software with low coverage of automated tests using a BDD approach and use established Test Frameworks.
  • Work within Scrum teams to develop new automated tests to improve the quality of the functionalities, shorten the automated test cycles and ensure repeated quality assurance while decreasing the manual regression test efforts.
  • Work within established Test Automation Frameworks, improve and maintain the framework and ensure further integration of automated test plans into the Continuous Integration Process.
  • Develop and execute test plans and test cases with a strong emphasis on using code to solve technical challenges and shorten the test cycle through automation.
  • Contribute to further develop the performance and scalability testing efforts and improve the test frameworks, tools and technologies used by the organization to maintain a high quality.
  • Contribute to a robust, scalable, and high quality test automation solutions for functional, regression and performance testing.

Preparation, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Selenium RC
  • Selenium Webdriver
  • Java / C#
  • Jenkins / CI
  • Virtualization software, ideally VMware
  • JMeter

It will be an advantage if you have:

  • Database knowledge particularly PostgreSQL or MS SQL
  • ANT
  • Spring
  • Python
  • XML (incl. XSL, XPath etc.)
  • HTML, JavaScript
  • TestNG / J-unit
  • J2EE, specifically Tomcat.
  • Performance testing Windows and web applications
  • Ubuntu / Linux
  • Docker

Personal Skills and Aptitudes

  • Strong analytical and fault-finding skills.
  • Technical aptitude to get rapidly up to speed with our product sets.
  • Methodical and thorough approach to testing.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills in dealing with clients (and internal people), for example to explain complex technical issues clearly to end users or internal people, and to gather and clarify user requirements.
  • Writing skills to prepare clear, structured documentation and guidelines.
  • Must be able to work independently and be proactive in work, but also be a good team player as part of a small team.
